1977 Yamaha RD400 Start up. Exhaust sound is amazing on these bikes.

This RD400 has the original stock exhaust with the slip-in baffles in. With the exhaust baffles out the bike is EXTREMELY loud. Because the twin exhaust pipes are not connected by a crossover pipe both have then own independent exhaust sound. When sitting on the motorcycle you get a stereo crackle from each pipe - Very cool. I could sit and listen to this bike all day :)

While this repainted RD 400 may not be very pretty as it is, it is an amazing bike to ride. The match between engine and 6-speed gearbox is perfect. You always have the right gear there waiting for you as you push the bike. The steering is also very nice and quick.

The RD400 is a cult bike for good reason. Compared to modern sport bikes, the RD400 is underpowered, but the power it has is VERY usable. On our rural twisty roads the RD 400 has more than enough power. I rarely find myself wanting more. On these roads the RD400 has no problem keeping up with modern running-mates.

I love this bike. I can confidently say that I will never get rid of this bike :)
